I attended the Public Meeting at Tillamook on 3-17-04. There is a lot of opposition to the plan to close the 60 miles of beaches. They have plans to close beaches in three stages through the year 2011. This plan basically does not allow you to do anything on the beach, walk, fly kites, or drive from March through September.

The Oregon State Parks are abusing their power and are operating under an administrative rule and don’t need voters input or legislative approval to enact this plan.

The Oregon State Parks are talking of issuing permits to camp or remove driftwood. It was shocking to hear them say that walking your dog off a leash harasses all the birds and destroys the eggs of these birds that I have never seen. The Oregon State Parks never mentioned the Snowy Plovers predators such as the seagulls, ravens, crows and falcon along the coast line. The seagull numbers are on the rise, the plover is on the decline and people can’t access the beach. Doesn’t make sense to me.

This is just plain crazy!!! Threre study of this bird only took one day to complete and 90% of it was asking peoples opinions on the beach and the watching the bird ......total time spent one day to come to this extreme agenda!!! come on give me a break![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img]

 

the oregon national guard is working on creating more habitat for the bird south of florence the wild grass that was brought in to stablize the dune at the beginning of the 1900 has stole most of the bird sand, well there working on bringing in ocean salt water to kill the gas naturally thus bringing back the habitat for the bird good thing is no riding area is involved[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Florence would revolt if they closed the dunes. That whole town makes all of its money on ATV riders.

 

I think florence is split 50/50 on the whole dune rider. Their are alot of old retired poeple and california money threre that dont care for us. In fact thats how the whole issue on noise started . The california money putting presure on the forest service to do something about it. cali money ruined there state now its starting here!

 

yes ther closing off miles every year i live like 40 miles north of Pismo aka oceano dunes and yes the politics in cali SUCK but i was born and raised here so i must grin and bear it [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

Welcome to the good fight guys. Check out the ASA, AMA or any of the other advocacy groups that are fighting behind the lines, as we speak, to save your (our) beach. Get involved and donate money, there is strength in numbers. If you wait until the act is passed to do something, its too late. At that point it will take an act of god to get it overturned.

Good job to DSSleuth for posting a site where you can write to, now take a minute to freakin write. Just do it in an intelligent manor. Threats, cussing, and hate verb will only go against the cause.
