New AC400 owner dumb question - removing the seat
#1
Just bought my first AC, a 2001 400 manual. When looking at it I was shown by the atv guy at my local dealership that the manual was in a slot under the seat, as well as the location of the tool kit. Well, I failed to pay attention as to how he removed the darn thing. I have not had any time to play with my new toy, just back it into the garage. Can some one help a newbe with a little advice?
Thanks,
Brent

Not sure which two places it may be, I just purchased an 04, when the dealer was going over the new upgrades for 04s, he mentioned the seat release in prior years was in the back, up under the rear plastic, and some had it up under the gas tank near the front part of the seat somewhere. Two places to look, I am just trying to remember from days ago. Hopefully this will help you. If not, someone on the forum will know for sure. This is a great source of quad knowledge here on this site. Good luck.

I will give it a better look in the morning. Like I said, I pulled it into the garage but did not have enough light left today to figure it out. I think after the seat I may get rid of my wireless networking in the house!! Instead of coming in and relaxing as I wanted to do I end up surfing.

Don't know for sure where it is on the 400, but on the 250 I have and on a 300 the release is on the right side at the top front of the foot rest cut out. A small lever sticks down below the plastic right below the seat, it releases the front of the seat and you slide it off two tabs at the rear.

Lot of KY based kitty herders around here lately...
on the 500i, it's a handle that sticks out the back up under the rear fenders. Was kind of a fuss to get the seat loose, it just didn't want to come off, but the manual was there, just like they said it would be. Sealed up in plastic, so it didn't get wet, either.
Interesting reading, after having the cat for over a year. I learned two things I never knew - the primer handle on the carb, and the idle adjuster. Guess it says something that I used it for over a year and never needed to adjust the idle...
