There probably black from when it was on gas or its burning oil. I would put new plugs in.

I have always wondered this myself. I was running alkie for a little while but could never get it jetted right. I couldn't tell whether it was cutting out because it was lean or rich, and the plug color on mine was always white, no matter what I did with the jetting

I think its because alky doesnt carbon up like gas. Mine is always white too. Been told that the best way to know if jetted right was by the exhaust temp, at the header right out of the motor. Seems like it was biggerisbetter that posted that one time but not sure.

Do you just run the stock plug gap?

I dont run a pilot and am curious about what main everyone else is running. I put a Pingel high flow pitcock on mine also. I just played with mine until It felt the best. Ive found that if you run too big a jet or drill it out or just dont run a main it makes your oil milky very fast. Also if you drill out a jet be careful they are easy to twist off. Ive done that. So tell me what mains are you guys running.

330 around here, but with a little elevation I don't run one at all.

I've found that not running a pilot will tend to milk the oil more-so than no main
