720 First Ride report.....
#1
Okay I haven't hammered it cause I'm still breaking it in but I took it down the street a couple of times and now it's time to give a first impression report.
I didn't hammer the throttle cause I want to go nice and easy the first couple of hours. I rode it for about 10-20 mintues on pavement just to go thru the gears no more than 1/4-1/2 throttle. It feels like it added more top and the powerband feels broader. It felt torqey but not as torquey and front end wanting to see the sky like a Raptor. Given the Raptors wheelbase if the DS had a wheelbase like it's rival, it probably be as bad if not WORSE than the Raptor for ease of wheeling. I may need to play with the clutch cause the DS defintely wants to leap as soon as I let loose the clutch lever (unlike the Raptor) and it will pull itself with no throttle effort (unlike the Raptor).
The 60% springs are kind of hard on the hands, but I guess I'll get used to it. I jumped off my DS and ran my Raptor a big and I don't know why anyone would want a Magura Hydraulic clutch kit for a Raptor. Bone stock the thing is easy to pull.
The only kink I have in my DS is now stems from the lectron 44 (I'm assuming). It doesn't hold a steady idle, and at time it just cuts right off even after it's been running for a bit. I'm thinking it might be too rich. I will lean it one turn or two tomorrow before I take it out for a ride.
Once it's broken in I want to nail the throttle from idle. Seems like there is no bog like my friends TM45. All of you considering a carbuerator I strongly recommend a Lectron but keep in mind your going to have to replace your thumb throttle, will need a new cable, and have to play with it a bit.
The trinity exhaust sounds meaner than the Big Gun I had. Has a throatier sound and a deep bark. THe head pipes are starting to discolor. Time to get some blue-away and polish them bad boys. My son noticed the exhaust and said it looked sharper than my old Big Gun.
Tomorrow I get to ride her some more, fully break her in, in her natural terrain not pavement. I will post after tomorrow's ride. After that I will change the oil and filter and on Sunday maybe even go against my Stage III buddy.
