cutting back rear fenders?
#1
Hi
I love the look when you cut back the rear fenders on the DS. My question is, if I do cut them back, will I get rocks thrown up/into me when I ride on dirt? If I'm gong to ride on dirt as well as dunes, should I just leave them the way they are?
thanks
Ben

Take a look at my pics, and u can see mine. I cut mine thinking the same thing u are. And no it does not throw nuthing on u at all. Only thing it did throw on me was a little water when i went threw a little puddle of it and that was it. The sand or dirt does not get on u. If u are wondering what to cut them with, i used a jig saw with a fine tooth blade and it worked great. Just tape the fenders off where u want them and cut them. just take the rear fenders off. IMO, the bike looks good without them. save some weight too. and if u ride on a wet, muddy day, u can easily put the fenders back on and have some good protection.

it does add up....but do you think the little flap rear fenders us racers run is really going to make a difference?...i dont think you would ever know the difference.....my fenders....after cutting and trimming....will float if you drop em...lol
-i shaved em
-and trimmed out around where the airbox was...
-and the tool kit holder is gone.....
they weigh nothingand can be removed to work on it easy!
