maybe the BMW F650 starter is cheaper.

doesn't the starter have a denso part number on it? maybe it can be cross referenced.

My dealer is going to look into getting it rebuilt and he also mentioned the BMW.

Larry, this one finally died. It just spins, like it's not making contact with the flywheel.

I know it's the starter cause I have the one from the 03 on there now and it works fine.

Vegas:

Pull the bad one apart. I think Jeff had oil get into his from that starter o-ring leak I know you had. He cleaned it out and it works now.

I think Jeff may have the extra but, you'll have to check to see if he does.

You can order individual components of the starter from BMW too. I have a .pdf of the starter fiche from BMW if you want a copy send me a PM with your e-mail.

Don't know if you had seen but, I got a new front nose piece for the starter when I did my latest build and that along with the new cases eliminated the oil leak (knocking on wood.)

Drunkfool....LOL. ya gotta love that one
I don't know of anyone that makes one for the DS. And IMO, If I had to kick it. I wouldn't ride it. I know it would shed some weight. But I wouyld rather find the weight elsewhere if needed. I know, I'm a wuss
