yfz on the trails?

i always have heard that the yfz is basically stricktly mx. but in the 04 buyers guid, it is the only quad with the best for everything, trails, woods racing, mxing, dunes, dessert. what are your guys opinions on this. i have narrowed it down for me either a yfz or a raptor. i do mostly high speed trails, windy trails, and go to the track often. i am dying for reverse and comfort, but i can live with out. also i am 6' 2" and 150lbs. i want something that flys on the staits, rips at the track, and is great on the woods and trail ride. what do u guys think. i realize there is a lot of post on sort of the same subject, but please read and answer, thanks a lot- rider1169

As long as your trails are "high speed" and not "super tight" like they are here in MI, I would go for the YFZ. The lower center of gravity is a big plus. Just make absolutely sure you can trail ride without reverse, because it comes in handy sometimes.

well then I'd say the yfz is for you if you go to the track often it's also better in tight trails than the raptor, the raptor seat is better but you can get padding added to it if you want. Everybody says the yfz isn't that great for trails but I use my yfz in tight technical trails more than my raptor but in open trails and fields where you can just open it up the raptor is great for that, but in the winter time I have never gotten stuck with my raptor where the 450 got stuck in the deeper snow and a 400ex, bayou, beartracker, 200s, and 300ex all got stuck, so I would say the raptor is better for winter riding. The raptor is a great trail quad and it does have reverse. Also me being 6'3" I feel more comfortable on the raptor but I'm not uncomforatble on the 450 it's just the raptor is bigger. If you don't mind getting off the quad and pushing it 2 ft. sometimes then go with the yfz.

The YFZ I described was my setup at one time and those mods are what made me like riding trails. I'm ~210 w/ gear and I didn't spend much time on the seat in a trail riding situation. I was to busy hanging my **** over the side and hauling.
Trust me. Trust all the guys on here that have riden them lately and fallen in love.

Of all the hare scramble races I run, the Memphis Series has the tightest trails.
They have large turnouts in the bike classes and the officials ofcourse are diehard dirtbikers, so we aren't catered to very well. Most trails are so tight that a stock 400EX would have a hard time getting through some sections.
There were quite a few YFZs at the race last weekend.
The YFZ450 guys I spoke with after the race didn't complain at all about having trouble. In fact, a guy on a YFZ won that race.

Sorry if I sound stupid, but what do you do to raise the compression and how much would that cost? Thanks.
