Default 2001 250 TrailBlazer-Not Charging

Does anyone know the charging output of a 250 Trialblazer 2stroke? And if anybody knows how to test the stator for continuty or ohm's It would be a big help I'd hate to have to get into there if I dont have to.Also does the Cdi unit do anything with charging or just ignition?
Thank You

Not sure on the '01, but to read the charging circuit coil resistance you will need to read across the yellow/red wire to the yellow wire. You should have slight resistance (0.2 - 0.4 ohms??????) - it should not read open, nor a complete closed (0.0)

Your regulator/rectifier may be the problem is stator restistance is evident

Thanks for the info Quad Wrench. I tested the two leads you described with my ohm meter and I had continuty between them.Does that mean its shorted? And the next question would be where is the stator? Im hoping under the pull starter. And what puller am I going to need? I ordered a shop manual for this bike it should be hear this coming week.

You will have to pull the rope starter housing and the flywheel to get to the stator - the flywheel will come off with an automotive harmonic balancer puller and 3 bolts (either 6 X 1.0mm or 8 X 1.25mm - can't remember which - I know the older 250's used the 6mm)

I didn't clarify in my previous post - When you test the stator for resistance, you need to unplug the wires and test resistance in the direction towards the stator (wires coming from the stator) - hopefully you knew this, otherwise you may have a false reading.

If your stator is bad, it can be rewound for about 1/2 the price of a new one - drop Sean at www.rmstator.com an email, he's in Canada and probably faster than ordering one from Polaris for you.

Hey Quad Wrench
Yes I did test the wire's going back to stator.I got the flywheel off .I see two different stators. see picture > is the bottom one for charging? Because I think i can buy it $35.00.

Thanks Again

Picture of Stator> Stator

Also is there any test I could do to the rectifier? Rectifier

That runs for $65.00.

To my knowledge there are no tests for the regulator/rectifier (basically if the stator tests fine and there are no battery/wiring problems, then the last place would theoretically be the regulator/rectifier)

The lighting stator is the big 3 pole part - 01 TB Magneto #5 on this diagram - the smaller one (#4) is the exciting coil - or ignition system power.
