I'm looking at getting the IDS2 for my rancher.
1. How hard is the installation?
2. Do I need to rejet the carb?
3. How much of a power increase should I expect?

The pipe it self should be easy. You will have to rejet probabley 2 sizes you might as well get a better air filter if they have any yet. Dont expect loads of power from a 4 stroke.

From what I understand you will need to rejet and I think you would also benefit from a new air filter(yes they do make them for the Rancher). The install should be like the muffler install on a car. Just unbolt the old and bolt on the new.

Here is a good rule of thumb. If you add a new air filter such as K&N you may need to go up 1 jet size. If you add a new exhaust system then you may need to go up 2 jet sizes.

Remember this is a rule of thumb.

putting a new pipe on a quad on not rejetting would be like putting a set of flowmasters on a mustang. the quad and car will sound real good but will perform no better than stock.

I just install the same exhaust on my Rancher. Easy job, One clamp, and two or three hangers. Take the back tire off for easy access. I went with the K&N High Flow Air Filter and the Dynojet Jet Kit. The Jet numbers are not equivalent. But the 130 dynojet main and needle worked great for me. I bought the kit from Highlifter used the largest jet in the kit and put the needle on the 3rd notch.

Very impressed with the new found lowend power. I can easily understand why Honda didn't ship the Rancher this way. All that power and acceleration wound make the Honda Lawyers very nervous. My test ride out of the garage I hammered the throttle in 2nd gear and lifted the front end off the ground without any effort on my part at all.

After riding a couple days I reduced the disc in the exhaust from 12 to 7. Reduced the noise level to an acceptable level but didn't seem to effect the power. I have a good relationship with my neighbors and wanted to keep it that way.

Best of luck with you mods.

Default New exhaust...do I need to rejet the rancher??

I was wondering what you guys are running for jet settings and needle clips, along w/ air mixture screw. Are you still running the DJ-130?

Thanks
Glenn
