Overheating problem
#1
Now I'm a little confused. I had an overheating problem a couple of weeks ago and replaced the broken fan, but I am still having an overheating problem. Today I rode for 1 hour before the light came on, I waited 5 minutes and started it back up. No problems for the next hour and then it overheated again. I checked the antifreeze and it was only down about a pint. The only thing that I did notice is that it only happens when I've slowed down on speed.
Anyone have any ideas? I already check the fan and the radiator to make sure they were both clear. Thanks.

Is there a bleeder for airpockets in the engine?
Is the water pump going bad?
This ones stuppid I know but is the antifreeze/water mix OK? 50/50-60/40 mix of antifreeze/water? and have you used distiled water or tap water, If tap water you could be growing some nice restrictions in your cooling system.
Also there is a small purge hole in the radiator that was plugged and wouldnt let air escape the radiator in mine you might check that.
Ok this is easier, got my book.
low coolant
air in system*****
wrong coolant*****
faulty pressure cap or system leaks*****
restricted system, ie. mud
lean mixture
fuel pump oiutput weak
restricted radiator ( internally or externally )
water pump
cooling system restriction*****
cooling fan inoperative or turning to slow perform current draw test
timing misadjusted
low oil level*****
spark plug wrong heat range
faulty hot light circuit
thermostat stuck closed or not opening completely*****
Good luck and of course start with the easiest and most likely.
Press On!!!
