when I am buying an atv from someone, what do I look out for? What are some things that I should look for? Just general buying knowledge?

I would recommend checking out the air filter. looking for stress cracks at weld spots and on the swing and A arms to see how aggresivlely the quad has been ridden. also find a way to lift up the back of the quad and spin the rear tires and look for a bent axles. how easy is it to start up... test the suspension for blown shocks.. if the quad is stored where it would normally be on the owners property look for oil leaks around where the machine is sitting or signs of an oil leak on the machine itself.

Pretty much what every body else said but make sure that there is no rust on the welds. this weakens them alot. Make sure it goes through all the gears and have fun.
