Tire and Rim Choice for So Cal Desert Riding
#1
Im considering a set of Razrs for my KFX400. I just ripped up the sidewall of my stock Dunlops and need new rubber. My Quad is stock and I ride it in the Southern California High Desert. It is primarily hard pack with lots of rocks and gravel mixed in. I don't race, but like to cut loose occasionally. I've read the posts about tires and am leaning toward the razrs. Should I get the 4 ply or 6 plys? If I get replacement rims, should I get the douglass .160 or .190? or ITP's? Any info or opinions on the subject is definately appreciated. Thanks, Jeff.

I have run nothing but ITP Holeshot XC's on all my bikes for YEARS, without a single problem of any kind! 4-ply front and 6-ply rear. These tires have won Baja a zillion times! (I am going to try the new Holeshot H-D when it is available.) I run them on ITP 9X9 rims in the rear and 10X5 in the front. These rims have a greater width and/or offset than stock, and it widens the bike up 3" in back and 2" in front, for a nice increase in stability. These are proven desert performers.
