Well, I herd that a grizzly is alot better gettin through the mud then a 700 twin... but i find that to be wrong... ur thoughts ?

 

where the hell did you here that? polaris' are the best mud machines you can get. dude u post the dumbest threads. first you have the fastest blaster now this... the sportsman 700efi is a beast. the grizz is a great machine too. but if your lookin for a mudding machine, go with polaris. mine get me where ever i wanna go and back.

 

The extra 150 lbs that the 700 has is a real pain when winching the quad out of the skeg. If you want a real world unbiased opinion here it is. I own a 660 and ride with a number of 700's and as far as I'm concerned they are equal. One mud hole I'll pull him out the next he'll pull me out. Some people complain about the grizzly belt getting wet. If they look the intake for the is just under the front rack if you are in water that deep you don't need a quad you need a boat. Some people don't like the locking system on the 700 because of free-wheel going down hills. They all have there weaknesess and positive points but at the end of the day with all things being equal they both are awesome quads and I would own either one of them.

 

A couple of months ago I went through mud holes with a 400 Polaris sportsman that a grizz 660 couldn't make! I know have a 500 HO. Both are great quads though. Dobie

 

the reason i say that the polaris' are better mud machines is because of their true four-wheel drive. yamaha has limited slip differential, which is basically 3-wheel drive. same for hondas and suzuki's. i was riding with a vinson and in every mudhole ud only see 3 wheels trying to push the things outta the hole. with polaris' if you have it in 4wd, then all wheels are guna spin. what a difference that sportsman 700efi has with throttle response. u can finally wheelie a sportsman without a problem! as far as looks, i think that polaris wins there as well. what a mean looking quad.

 

no yamaha ha the push button that gives you diff lock so all 4 wheels will be spinning

 

With polaris all wheels don't spin all the time the one with the most amount of traction does. Yamaha has a true diff lock that will lock all 4 wheels in no matter what the case.

Get a real rider on that grizz and there isn't a 400 that can keep up with the grizz in a mud hole. The 500 is more than capable mud machine but doesn't have the power of the grizz.
We have a rally in the fall that is all mud and muskeg and the 400's no matter what make don't have the mud bogging capability that a grizz or the 700 sportsman. The two ultimate mud machines are the grizz 660 and the sprtsman 700 (ground clearance, true 4wd drive system and lots of power to maintain
wheel speed to keep the tires clean which is critical in deep mud). Any make of 400 cc quad is way outclassed in the mud catagory when compared to these to machines when you have a capable driver behind the bars.

I had this same problem deciding a month ago when I got my grizz. It all came down to the weight, lock 4wd and looks for me. The grizz wins as far as that goes. However I test drove them both... not the EFI. The polaris seemed to ride better, more of a softer feel. The grizz rides good too, but not as good. I also got the grizz for 5999. Cheapest I could find the 700 for was 6399.

Looking back now, I LOVE the fact that my grizz is easier to clean, its all open and easy to spray the mud out. The 700 would have been a pain in the a$$.

Also, the grizz has much better engine braking.

 

ive ridden with 2 polaris 700s and quite a few grizzlys, my neighbours eiger went through **** the 700 couldnt even touch, sad to say i have lossed all fait in that quad....grizzlys however arnt the best mudders either, i think it all depends on the rider
