Scrambler 500 suggestions
#1
Hi. I've owned my 2000 Scrambler 500 4x4 for a few years now. I love it. It's the greatest all-purpose ATV out there. I haven't had much money for mods before, but I'm looking to do some small ones now. I already have a K&N filter and I've removed the drain bolt from the exhaust (which did provide significant gains). I'm looking at doing a few things.
1. Bolt on a new exhaust. (I don't have much cash, so a typical aftermarket system is out of my range. Has anyone bolted on a stock muffler from a crotch rocket before or modified the stock muffler?)
2. Jet kit (whats a good jet for the set up I have just a little above sea level?)
3. Clutching (what are some good springs for my setup if I want just a little more performance than stock?)
Thanks!

1. you could get a slip-on muffler for not too much $
3. You could get a clutch kit, or i think (dont quote me on this) a white primary spring for about $20 with provide you with more performance w/ the clutch.
Somebody else will come along that know for sure, (like BBS) P.S. Welcome to the Forums!

A full exhaust system sounds out of the question. Just go for a slip-on. You best bet would be a White Bros E-Series. Look around on Ebay. You may stumble across one there. It really isnt worth it modify the stock muffler. You will be fine with a 160 main jet and a little adjustment of the air/fuel screw with that muffler. No need for a jet kit, unless you really want one. If you want the clutch to engage slightly higher than stock, then try a Polaris white primary spring. For the trails, I like the HPD violet secondary spring set on the 2-2 position. I have the PD brown primary spring with 58g weights (may try 53g weights soon). It engages at about 2200 RPM. The white will engage a little lower. You may just want to give Rick Ritter @ RCR a call. Tell him what you want and how you ride and he will put a custom kit together for you of only what you need
