is pennzoil sae50 ok

Default is pennzoil sae50 ok

i just got my ds back from a local bike shop to find that they put pennzoil sae50 in it .is this oil ok or should i take it back and have them switch it before i run it?

No u dont want to run 50 weight oil. It is to thick.Trust me on this one. I run valvoline 10w-40 dura blend and havent had any trouble. Now 20w-50 has a better viscotceidy then straight 50weight oil. You can run 20w-50 for racing and not riding much but i would go with 10w-40 so that u will be safe with no trouble at all. 50weight oil is harder to move until it gets warm so there for it will not lube as fast on the cylinder when you first crank the engine up. You want something that will lube from when you first start your engine to when u kill the engine. If you ride in 90+ degree weather all the time then 50weight will be ok but i am sure u dont ride all the time when it is 90+ outside.
