Hello everyone I just have a couple of quick questions about how the whole " pre-order " went for you. I know that in shopping around for a raptor the prices ranged from $6505 otd to $7200+ otd..... and the waiting lists varied as much as well. How was the overall experience for you? Do you regret pre-ordering a quad....? I put a deposit down on a Raptor with a fairly respectable dealer, for $6610 otd, and I am first in line..... I guess since this is the first time that I have.. well going to be... buying a quad that I have never seen.... seems kinda weird. I am used to looking at and riding something befor buying it oh well Just curious about how everthing went on the DS's. Also out of curiousity what seems to be the popular paddle set up on the DS... 10 paddle, 12paddle??

Thanks for any feedback

I didn't buy my DS up until a month ago. I try not to buy something immediately after it’s come out. At first I was a tad bit disappointed when I first heard about the Raptor. It had a few features that sounded better, 9000 rpm red line, and reverse. However from a recent review I read the Raptor is less comfortable than the DS (which was a key feature that I wanted). Also, higher ground clearance and suspension travel (another feature I wanted, both due to me being a large rider of 270lbs).

So all in all, I’m very happy with my DS. I think it looks awesome and so must everyone else that gawks while I ride by! Not to mention the occasional thumbs up! Which I find amusing.

In reference to price I’m not disappointed at all considering I bought my DS from Canada for $6268 U.S. tax free! I would however be vaguely enraged if I would have paid 7k and seeing the Raptor is 500-800 dollars cheaper.

I welcome the competition and wish you well in your purchase. Please keep us informed once you get it!!

Wait for Scooby to reply. He has one of the early ones, and unfortunetly has had more problems than other DS owners.

The downside is you are relying on the magazine reviews to base your decision. Trust me, the magazine reviews are not unbiased reviews. Many of the DS650 quirks were not mentioned or were downplayed in the initial reviews. Also, Yamaha or Bombardier or whatever manufacturer is not unbiased either. They may make the quad sound better than it is. The other issue is with a first production run of a new model. You are taking a risk no doubt. I took a much bigger risk since Bombardier is a newcomer to quads. I have learned my lesson about buying a first production run of a new model.

I like the Raptor, but I will not buy one without seeing what it can do in person and if there are any manufacturing bugs to be worked out.
