I think I got a deal?
Hi all,
I have been ATV researching for about a year now and had narrowed my pick to a 450 EPS Grizzly. Have been pricing them out recently and been quoted $7200-7400 out the door for a 2014 450 EPS, which I thought was reasonable. Well this past weekend I was with a couple of buddies looking for parts for one of their quads, when we stopped by a dealer. As we are walking around and window shopping we noticed a 700 EPS Grizzly sitting there. It was red and looked brand new and my buddies were saying what a beast that is. I had seen the 700's and never even thought about one because I personally didn't need or want anything bigger than a 450.
Well as we were walking out and half *** chatting with the sales guy about the Grizzly, he says " that's the best deal he's got going on the floor" says its a 2008 EPS, 196 miles & 22 hrs asking $5500. As you can imagine all of us stooped in our tracks and were like WHAT!
Damn thing was practically brand new, a few scuffs here and there, still had nipples on tires....I had no intention of buying a quad but after doing the math, $7400 brand new 450 or barely broken in 700 for $5500....needless to say, I'm the new owner of a 700 Grizzly!
Just curious what your thoughts are on the price?

Used always beats new in value. I bought a 2013 SUV with only 5000 miles with 3years remaining warranty for $20,000 from a person who bought it new for $31,000.
I just think losing $11,000 for 5000 miles/two years driving is insane.
If you bought a new ATV and brought it home and changed your mind and sold it the very next day I'll guarantee you will lose $1500 without riding it once.
I knew a girl who won a new 660 Grizzly as a door prize and she tried to sell it for weeks at it's new price cost and she did not get a bite until she reduced the price by $1,500. Even though she never rode it was considered used in peoples eyes.
192 miles is two tanks of gas. Plus the 700 has EFI where the 450 Grizzly do not.
I always buy used. Everyone one this forum is riding a used ATV in my view.

I'm on my 5th ATV I bought used and never bought a bad one yet. I also sold all my old ATVs to friends or relatives and know they are all still running fine.
The people who take that first big price hit getting them off the show room floor I call the "Guinea Pigs."

The nice thing about a used atv is that the older it gets, the less it loses in value per model year. $5500 appears to be a great price for a practically brand new 700. That's at least $2000 less than any new Grizzly 700 I've seen. Even the non-eps equipped 700's are still north of $7000 new, plus taxes and fees. I assume you still have to pay some fees since it was a dealer but its less than the fees on a new model. $6000 out the door sounds a lot better than $8000 or more out the door for a new 700 or even the $7400 for the much less powerful 450.
