Mohave87, Knowing absolutely nothing about Mohaves,I can't be very specific, but two things that are basic to any machine for improving performance are adding an aftermarket pipe and improving the air input to the carb., either by an aftermarket filter if one is available for your ride, and/or by drilling out your air box cover to allow greater air input. Of course in doing any of these things you'll have to re jet to compensate fot the larger air flow. To greatly increase performance across the entire band would probably entail engine work involving considerable expense, altho the above air modifications will definitely make a difference. Most pipes are built to help performance either at the low end or mid to high end, but not both at the same time. Some however, can be tuned by the user for a more or less specific part of the band. Such a pipe is the Supertrapp IDS system, or the FMF, I believe.
Gearing up or down can affect you power band too, but again, only one end or the other.
These are all bolt on modifications costing relatively little compared to engine kits, but will give you noticable improvement while maintaining the reliability of your bike.
