Heres what I'm thinking, 3 wheelers are a LOT cheeper than 4 wheelers. So if I get an ATC, cut the frame at the steering neck. Then weld the front clip off most anything (a couple repair shops around me have older broken frame laying around) and weld it to the ATC frame. I'd have a 4 wheeler for about $400 to $500. This is not going to be intended for any rough use, just something for my wife and kids to put around on. I wouldn't go over about a 125. So has anyone done this? Or seen one done? Let me know your ideas. Thanks

Yes, it's been done, there are, or were, even kits available. Reports from some who've taken this path suggest unsatisfactory results. Not surprising. Why mess up a perfectly good 3-wheeler?

In the 'Building a Budget Racer' article under the ATV Racing column, it says that Burgard Cycle sells an ATC to fourtrax conversion kit. So that is another option.

A guy by me RACES a quad like this. He took a Yamaha Tri-Z 3wheeler and welded a 300EX front end on it. It looks and holds up great. He has ultra cross shocks and everything. Right now it is for sale.
