Default Fouling Plugs 84' 200s

Hey guys,

My 200s is fouling plugs real bad. After a ride the plug is completely black. I am sure this is because im running to rich. Any ideas on how to make sure my plug gets the nice tan color? I recently rebuilt the carb as well.

I am also looking into a new exhaust, It's hard to find my model for the DG and suppertrapp. Can i use a pipe for a 200x same year?

Thanks for the help

Try adjusting the needle valve a notch or two.

As for the exhaust: The x exhaust will bolt up to the s head but you may have to do some rigging and fabricating to get it to bolt up to the frame.

I have just bought a supertrapp for a 200s...... the dealer where i got it has another unit in stock. I am putting it on a 200es and it has to be modified. It is meant for the 185s the 200 and the 200s.

I tried the needle to run leaner but then it was hard to start and running to lean......do you think the air filter needs to be cleaned for more air flow?

Thanks again

If the filter needs cleaning, do it for sure. Problem is probably with the carb though. Does it smoke? What color is the smoke? How does it run?

The bike runs real good. No problems goin through the gears, no smoke, and im using an NGK same model number that came stock....I already double checked that.

take your needle out and have a real close look at it....they often wear, and will cause this same problem. im not sure if your rebuild kit came with the needle set....also check to see that the clip that holds the needle down (inside the piston) is intact...and holding it...you might try putting a washer above the clip on the needle itsef(below the retainer slip)...this should drop the needle down a bit....

My buddy had the same problem before he sold his 200S. I believe he wasnt screwing in the plug enough but thats probably not your problem. If I were you I would try different needle valve settings and see how that works out. Then adjust your idling and try removing your air filter altogeather and air box lid and ride not on too dusy or dirty of a trail and check the plug. If it's still black I wouldnt really know what to tell you, maybe your valves arent opening properly and isnt delivering enough air or delivering too much fuel. A lot of things could lead to the reason that your running too rich.

Mine starting doing this so I just clean it out real good. Took all the jets out and took an air compressor and spray it out. It hasn't fouled one since. But it might be different for you.
Hope this helps.
