The owner of Jims Sand Toys posted this on another forum
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~paste~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just thought i,d let everyone in on the news from SKAT-TRAK,,,,GOOD and BAD,, they have had to go with a different brand of carcass, so therefore there are going to be a few problem's that i wanted to address for everyone,,,#1 there will be no more 21x12x8 tires,, period,,,, # 2 the 22x11x8 superlites will no longer be availible in any rollout larger than 72in, SORRY,,,,, there are no more 73-75 rollouts,,, only thing larger will be 25x12x9s in,, 79-82 rollout,,,, #3 there gonna be from 1- 1.5 lbs heavier per tire,,,#4 custom order tires are going to take anywhere from 3-5 months to be built,,,bad deal huh,,,, as everyone has seen, there has been a major shortage in superlite's recently, well things are up and running again , a very few dealers (including myself) whom have had major backorders with skat-trak, have been told that skat-trak will start shipping the new tires tommorow, so we should have them in stock in about a week,,,, thanks for your patience, Jim
Skat Trak may also go to a molded tire. Like they did with the Mohawk. With the Kenda's having to be shipped in from asia there may be delays on all Skat Traks.
Well, you guys could always try STUs. In a comp cut they were already lighter by a couple of pounds, now they should be a heck of a lot lighter! (In comparison.)
So what is a roll out? Are we talking about the circumference of the carcass if it were flattened? I assume trying to find out the rollout size is what partially depicts the diameter of the carcass, right? I know that STUs generally measure true to the rating IE: a 20" tires is really 20" and a 21" is reallt 21" (amazing - why can't other tire companies get that right? Skat Trak at least has a good reason for not being the stated size, but molded tires that aren't true to the size?)
Joe @ Fullerton Sand Sports could tell you: 714-484-5996.
