Bought Kodiak 450, have ?'s
#1
Hey just bought my first "new" atv - 2004 Kodiak 450, and had a couple of questions. Also have a 2001 Honda Recon I bought last year for $1700, it was my first ever atv now it belongs to the wife.
1 - I paid $5299 OTD for the atv and another $500 OTD for a Warn 2500 lb winch and Warn plow kit installed. It seemed like a pretty good deal and I was wondering what others are paying about now? I know the 05's are coming soon but I did not want to wait or pay the 2005 prices.
2 - I have searched in the past and read all the posts I could find with "Kodiak 450" in them and I remember coming across some things to watch for on the atv but I did not want to search through all the pages again (lazy I know). Could someone give me a heads up on what things I want to watch for that may need extra attention ie. breather hoses and such?

I paid $5,850 OTD back in Oct. for my '04 Kodiak 450 and Warn 2.5ci winch. I installed the winch myself. I bought a 60" Moose plow, plow mount kit, and push bar from Denniskirk.com for an additional $375. It looks like you got a good deal too.
A few things to watch out for:
1. I've heard, but not experienced that the steering stem can come loose.
2. The front trans intake can come loose.
3. Sometimes the batteries, even though they're new, suck.
I'm sure there's a few more things, but for the most part, it's a rock solid ATV.

I had checked out the Warn plows and the Moose just seemed a little stronger. Don't get me wrong, Warn makes a great plow, but the deciding factor was that a buddy has a Moose and it held up really well so I just went w/ that.
