Default Waterproofing a Warn 2.5

A friend of mine told me that his Warn 2500 winch said "Do Not Submerge". I will be buying this winch specifically for wet and muddy conditions, particularly creek riding. If I cannot get it wet as it is, can I silicon it or something? What should I do and how should I do it?

Jeez I submerge mine all the time and it works just fine. I should take the time thou and look at the contacts and make sure they are not getting rusty. lol.

Oh really? Well maybe it's not a big deal. I just wanted to make sure because I definitely will NOT be using this thing high and dry. Hey, how much do those 10" Mud Bugs on the front affect your steering ability? Everyone rants and raves about needing 9" up front. Is 1" really that big of a difference?

They do not effect anything at all. (I'm using my work computer for this)

I've had my Warn 2.0 under water more times than I can count, and it works fine. Probably just some disclaimer statement for the rare times water actually messes them up. Don't know if I would kick the power to it while under water, though.
