Greasing New A-Arm Bushings Problem!
#1
I have an 89 250r with Leager a-arms (+1, +1) and I am having a problem with the bushings.
I installed a new set of rubber bushings after I had the frame powder coated. When I went to grease the a-arms, the grease would not go into fittings. (new zerks too) When I pumped the grease gun it was really hard, then it started to push the rubber bushing out of the arm.
When I first installed the a-arms, I tried to grease them before tightening the bolts.. It did the same thing, the grease was forcing the bushing out of the slot. I fixed the bushing and thought it was from not having the bolt tight, but I know the problem is something else.
The way I see the bushing assembly working is this. The rubber bushing rotates with the arm as it is moved up. The metal tube (where the bolt goes through) stays still as the rubber bushing rotates around it. If this is the case, then should I put a small hole in the bushing so that the grease can flow between the metal tube and the rubber bushing?
What do I need to do to get grease in the arms?
