Default 700 plug color(after carb update)

Been playing with the pilot screw trying to get that"cofee" color, it's not happenin.
I get a decent color on the ignition side of the plug, the rest of it looks rich.Normal?
The plugs I removed from the factory looked similiar but they had 130 Hrs. on em.
How crucial is this adjustment ?, she runs better than ever!
I havn't done much carb work . Thanks for any replys.

The plugs on my brothers SP600 look that way too. Really nice color on one side and kinda of black/sooty on the other. His has not had the update yet The way it runs, I would like to just lean the pilot jet by one. If that doesn't work, I would try the update.

Polaridoo, thanks for the reply. I have changed the jets to the ones spec'd in the update bulletin.
Quite an improvement in power.
I heard that the pilot screw only affects the mix at idle speed, not mid or top end. Think theres any truth to that?
Sorry for the rookie questions, I'm learning as I go...

I was having problems with my 500ho idleing I took the carb off and drilled out the brass plug to gain access to the pilot jet.the manule said turn jet in untill it closed then counter clockwise 2 turns.Put it back on to do final adj and it idles fine now.plug is a tan color rather than black.yes the pilot jet is for idleing.

Yeah, the pilot jet handles mixture from idle to about 1/3 throttle.

What carb is that exactly. If it is a MUKUNI, have you tried going to the site and see if they have a carb tuning manual for it? It helped me out tremendously! It explained it all to me better than anyone could!!! Mikuni Carburator manuals

The one for the Scrambler 400's is the - VM " round slide"

So does that have on carb for both cylinders? What a bottle neck, if it does @34mm!!! I kinda looked it up, but could not find what kind it was... Looks like a single, but not sure if it is a Mikuni!? You would think they would put a 2 carb set up on this, or at least something bigger than a 34mm...

Redbull, thanks for the mikuni link. I couldn't find specific info on the 34mm, but it was quite informative.
You would think the 700 needs more carb, but it only feeds one cyl. at a time.
Nice job on that Warrior!
Bike seems to be fine, runs like a champ. I'll keep my eye on it for a bit.
Thanks for all the reply's. BC

Thanks, It's my baby!!! The best Road bike I have ever had, and the fastest! I smoke just about everything in my area, and don't have a hole lot into the engine. Mostly my own mods, nothing internal. It pulls low to mid 11's, but the real spark is short track, like light to light. There isn't a sporty around that can lauch like I can on that bike. It is funny seeing their faces after getting smoked by what most of the time they call a Harley. It doesn't look like a harley, It doesn't sound like a harley, and it is faster that any stock or most modified Harleys, so it must not be a Harley, right? I get more attention with this bike than I did with my other bikes combined...

So it is a mikuni? Just the same, it should help...
