Default jet skis and snomobiles

I was just on polaris' website looking at some of thier Jet-Skis and Snowmobiles. It kinda made me realize how small the ATV they make are, and all ATV's at that. For Example, just about every Jet Ski they make has over 90 hp, plus there best one pulling 150hp with a turbocharger coming on it STOCK. Heck, a powerful ATV out there pulls 50hp. The snowmobiles are the same, with a small one having a 500cc or 600cc twin engines. A meduim sized one has a 700cc twin, whitch is as big as the biggest ATV they make. I know this post is pointless, but I just thought I would share what Im thinkin right now....

I hear ya! I've been saying for years they need to put a 2-stroke twin sled motor in a quad. A 500 Liberty twin detuned could still put out an easy 75hp. I have heard that some states have regulations limiting how much horsepower a quad can have and still be an atv rather than an orv. Then you get into how it's registered and which trails are open to which classifications. I also know that there's a big liability issue if quads got too fast given the conditions of most atv trails out there. Around here they don't groom atv trails although I've heard that some places do. Quads don't handle high speeds and rough trails like a sled does.

They should drop the MSX 150 engine in a Sportsman! It's only 750cc, but pumps out 150 HP, and it's a 4 stroke.

Deal is, I can do 90+mph on my sled and feel comfortable. I start doing 60 on a quad and I can feel every shake and shimmy!! They are just different animals. Sleds and PWC's have alot of resistance to overcome with there ground contact patch also. That eats up alot of horsepower. I think 100 Hp in a quad is crazy, unless it is custom made for drag racing.

I do think that 70 HP would be ideal for most quads though! If all the polarise quads didn't come off the floor so detuned, it would make me happy!!! My 400 is up in the high mid 50's in HP, with the right pipe, clutch, and carb tuning, etc. the way it should have came new!!!

Heck Yeah! That thing is turbocharged also, whitch probly comes up with alot of its HP. 150hp in a sportsman would be able to do anything but fly (and it could probly do that to ) I wonder when aftermarket companies start making turbochargers and superchargers for quads?

someone would get hurt trying to trail ride a 150hp quad, my sled can get squirrly sometimes with that much hp and they have twice the suspension quads have. especially in high speed bumps, quads just dont handle like a sled. as far as the PWC even with that much hp they only do like 65-70 tops and that gets out of control on a rough lake
