A few weeks ago after the hurricane skimmed NJ I had the best day yet with my trusty SP 500. Here in New Brunswick, the river screamed more than 10 ft. over normal water level. This created havok for motorists, but the best day yet for me. Since parts of downtown were flooded including the police station, the cops were calling for volunteers with wetercraft to provide rescue for stranded residents of flooded apartments. My uncle has a fairly new SeaDoo GTX Limited, I called the Fire Dept. and asked if I could ride the jet-ski downtown with my ATV. All they said was, "Be carefull with the water" As fast as I could I connected the jet-ski to my quad and headed for downtown. On my way out to a major road I had to go against the traffic since all three lanes were crawling with traffic(illegal). I traveled across a median to fill both tanks and joyfully stopped cars dead on their tracks. I was on a rescue mission wasn't I? After fueling, instead of getting on the road again I decided to travel on the grass besides the road to get downtown faster. I later had to get on the road again to avoid a sign and ended up behind a local patrol car. The officer raced out of the car and yelled at me "What the HELL is your problem son!" (I don't look 16 with my helmet on) "I was called from downtown, they need me for some rescues" I said. "Do you have plates for this thing?" I told him they were at home so they wouldn't get wet (unfortunately, neither the jet-ski or my quad is registered at this point). The officer let me pass, he actually moved some cones, closing a road, out of the way so I could pass.
To make a long story short, I towed a jet-ski with my SP500 at 50mph with no problem on a 3-lane highway with no other vehicles on it but me and a few patrol cars blocking the road. Boy did I feel like a little kid with a new toy. Everybody stared and waved at this thing that was pulling a jet-ski. Once I got to the city after plowing through the grass some more, I broke the law once again, and pushed people out of the sidewalk so I could get downtown faster (the streets were bumber-to-bumber). After I arrived at the command post for rescues I drove straight into the floodwaters up to the racks on the quad and let go of the jet-ski. I turned around in front of all the FD and PD workers that just laughed at my "beast" Some cops asked me if I had plates on the thing and I didn't answer, pretending I didn't hear them. Luckily, I got back home, after throwing and retrieving a few jet-skis other than mine from the water, withoout any tickets. Man aren't cops good when you help them Sorry for the long post, but I just couldn't keep this story to myself, hearing other guys get ticketed for driving thier quad on the driveway.

I live in a fairly small town. When I was about 14 I used to mow lawns around town. I woud hook my 250 honda ftrax up t a 12*6 trailer and haul my lawn equipment around. The police here would just smile and wave. Guess thats a benifit of living in a town of 4000

Unfortunately, New Brunswick is a small town crammed with 60,000 people. Without hyperbole.

Helmet? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.

It is a proven FACT that if you are going faster than 15 mph, a helmet will do more damage to your head than it will protect it from. That would be one of the main reasons why Illinois still doesn't require that you wear one. You can belive what you want, but I have stated the facts.

HELMETS KILL!

Great story Aniel!
It's amazing how reliable those "unreliable" Polaris ATVs can be!

Cool story!! You probably gave Polaris some much needed, free, POSITIVE, advertising. I just sold my old 300 4x4 and wanted a new Magnum 500 but the dealer couldn't get one. So I'm going to go get a Sportsman 500 tommorow!!! I'm so excited!!
