First of all, let me say that this post is not meant to bash polaris, predators, or anyone who rides them. My cousin asked me to get info on how to get his preddy up to speed. He has it piped and jetted and wants to know what's the next step. His preddys top speed is faster than my V's, there's no question about the top end power of the predator, it's just the bottom end "1st through 4th gear" that he has trouble keeping up with me. If these preddy's are capable of what I hear, his should be able to beat mine and I have no problem with that. I just want him to be able to play with the big kids "piped raptors, YFZ's, DS's ect.

tell him to change the gear ratio with the rear/front sprockets, preds are geared high, lower the gearing, and she will pull way better....just ask some of these guys what there best experience with the gearing is

14/37 is stock. Great WFO speed runs, but sluggish off the line.

13/37 is good for dunes or tight woods.

Best all around compromise is my present 14/38.

13/38 takes too much away from the top end IMHO.

I have been racing my pred an it is totaly stock an im beating the yzf an a ex 440 a kfz 400 at the starts. I get the hole shot on them. I take off in 2nd gear. tell him to try that if he can. Other wise I have heard changinf to the 13 front sproket.

look at RMATV and see if they have the cheap sprockets for preds, i know you can get them for ds's for like $15, cheap and easy to try

Sounds like he needs airbox mods and more work on the jetting. Then, he'll need to learn how to power-shift (with the clutch, dammit) in order to stay with a modded V-Force... they don't shift, so slow shifts will lose him BIG time in drag racing you. But then again... I'm not into drag racing my quad.

ya, you wouldn't beleive the change in dropping a tooth on the front sprocket....the lower gearing will help him a lot on the startoff

I'd recommend going with a 39t rear over the 13t front. The 13t just robs too much from top-end. I had to go with a 36t rear sprocket just to get some decent top speed. A 39t rear is a much better route to go. And an aftermarket exhaust helps SUBSTANTIALLY. After I changed my gearing, opened up the airbox, and put an exhaust on its like a new machine! Much better. Now if I just weighed 350lbs like those dang yammys.
