Default Stock 03 Warrior runnin crappy at times

I got a stock 03 Warrior that gets choked up after I let off of it when I have gotten on it hard climbing a sand dune. My elevation is around 4,200 ft. I have asked a local dealer and he said to take off the Lid off the airbox and through it away and if it still does it then it may need to be jetted. They'll do it for $44. I am hesitant on doing this to the airbox with it having a stock filter. Should I buy a K+N filter with outerwear when I buy my pipe?

My son has a stock 01 Blaster that runs fine, should I take off his airbox lid as well?

Thanks in advance guys.

If you are going to take of the air box lid then I would definatley get a K & N air filter with outwear. I got a K&N for mine a couple months ago and noticed it runs alot better now. I haven't got outwear yet cause i haven't taken off my lid cause i ride in creeks and mud alot. They aren't that hard to put on yourself and definatley aren't worth paying someone $40 to do it. The only thing about getting a new filter and taking the lid off is that you will have to rejet you warrior to make it run right and i'm not sure what size you go to for that kind of elevation. If you want to take your sons lid off that's fine just dont' forget to rejet it and check the spark plug to see how it's runnin.
