Why does my 440 heat up so fast ???

Default Why does my 440 heat so fast ???

Is it normal for a 440 to run hot ,,,,main jet 182

i have stock sprockets on it now ........................ what should i do to prevent from wheelling so much need more take off

a 440 will run hot. just becasue your mainjet is huge, you could be lean on your pilotjet/fuel skrew and/or needle.

you could add an aftermarket oil cooler, scoops and a colder plug to cool it down a bit. for better take-offs, learn how to use the clutch better, get an extended swingarm, or put heavier tires on the front.

Try a 40 pilot jet, possibly bring your main down, also. How hoy is it getting. Is the pipe glowing?

ah so u did get it bored!, well its air cooled for one

ummm, wow that made no sense buddy.....he posted earlier about getting his honda bored and i didnt know he got it done lmao and the 400ex model is air cooled, so what gives?

get some air scoops, a bigger oil tank, and increase the jetting. because of the big bore it will run hot, but u might be running lean too. try slipping the clutch more when u get going, if u go down on gearing, then u lose on the top end. most people with big bore quads do go to an extended swingarm to help control the wheelies. good luck with ur machine!
