Default Very white plug

My Raptor has been running kinda funny lately. It misses and backfires sometimes when taking off or when revving it. I thought it might be bad gas so I drained the tank and was going to put some fresh gas in. As I was doing this I figured I would check the plug just to make sure everything is ok. Well I pulled it and the thing was super white. This is not good. What could be causing this. My Raptor is an 04 and completely stock. I am assuming it is running way lean, but why? How do I richen it up? I am thinkin about getting an intake and DJ jet kit, could this help out. I don't wanna tear into my carbs cuz I am afraid to mess things up, but if that is what must be done I will do it. I just need to know what to do. How do you adjust the air/fuel mixture? What screws and what way does what? I am not gonna ride my bike until I know it is running good. What is a good intake? I have heard of sixsixt's intake, is this a good one? And how to I get one? Any info you guys have that would help me get things right would be greatly appreciated.

Have you done anything to it mod wise?? Dont be afraid to take the carbs apart, just remember where everything goes. You will have to tear into them anyway if your getting the intake and jet kit.

Bike is completely stock except for a 12t front sprocket.

Did you give it enough time to warm up all the way? Did it feel like it was revving high and was somewhat short on power at all?

Hmm, actually now that I think about it, when I checked it, it was after I let it run itself out of gas. Like I said I thought the performance problem was because of bad gas, so I started it with the gas off and let it run itself out. I didn't ride it or let it warm up. Just started it and let it idle until it died. Would this make the plug be white? What is the best and proper way to check a plug?

When you run the bike out of fuel like you did...It leans the engine out right before it dies...but I would not think it would be enough to to "white"a plug.
