Nasty Plugs!!!!
#1
I have a 84' 200s....it's fouling plugs like crazy. I had it idling for 2 minutes shut it down and checked the plug. It was very hot and black. probably doin this from running to rich but i only had it running on the new plug for such a short time. Just recently rebuilt the carb so i dont think the needle is worn. I also tried to move the clip to run lean and it was too lean.....
The second time i had it running....it was goin for two-three minutes and then it wanted to shut off....it started to putter and then died.
Appreciate the help

The needle doesn't affect the carb at idle at all. It's only in operation when the throttle is open. You need to make sure you pilot jet isn't loose or hasn't fallen out. Also, make sure the choke isn't sticking and causing it to stay choked. I know you just had the carb off but it doen't take but a couple of minutes to check it out.

I took the carb off, cleaned it up real good and made sure all the jets were tight. There wasn't any damage to the mixture screw at all. I think that there was dirt messing up the float letting small amounts of gas into the head so when i started it it was way to rich....i ran it for a bit and the plug was fantastic.
thanks for the info. hopefully it won't have the same problem sitting overnight..ill let you know how it goes
