Default clutch kit for increase in tire size?

I have a '96 Polaris Sportsman 500 and want to move from 24" tires to 26" tires, but I was told I would need a clutch kit to compensate for the increase. Does this sound right??

You don't need a clutch kit. It has enough power anyway still if you did it wouldn't hurt.

Your stocks should be 25" tires, did you downsize? It wouldn't hurt to put a clutch kit on with them tires but it is more of a necessity with the 27 and 28" sized tires... I would do it if I were you, but if moneys the factor hold off for a bit, you'll be fine...
