Default shock issues...need help!!!

i have a 450R and i'm tryin to get my stock shocks dialed in as much as possible. i weight 200lbs, and im getting into freestyle, i mostly ride dunes. i know that i need new shocks to do what i want, but i don't have much money right now. i set the fronts to full hard on compression, and they still bottom a little. i had the back about 10 clicks away from full hard on the compression. the rebound seems to be just right front and back. tonight i made it so that the pre-load was as soft as possible, what will this do for me? i'm trying to make the front end a little plusher without losing my bottoming resistance, and trying to lower the ride height. ne suggestions?

I just haven't had time to fine tune the suspension on my 450, but one thing I know for sure is that I am going to have to have the rear revalved. With the rebound all the way in, it still rebounds so fast that I feel like I am on a pogo stick in the big whoops.

I have Works shocks on both my 400's and am very pleased. Landing a huge jump is like landing on pillows! So when I am ready, I will send them my shocks to get worked over.

For freestyle, you are going to be getting big air, so you want them stiff enough so they don't bottom. You might be able to fudge it a little by having lots of compression damping, but I think it will get weird if you don't have enough pre-load.

ok, thanx. i wasn't sure if the pre-load would affect the bottoming resistance or not, i'll have to go ride and see how it all works. have u tried turning ur re-bound out? maybe u turned it the wrong way to slow it down. i did the same thing with my compression the first time.
