Grizzly or Sportsman for comfort/durability?
#1
A friend of mine is looking for a new atv this fall. His requirements are:
The new atv must:
ride as good as a Polaris
offer extended brake pad life
have 2wd/4wd
dual range transmission
possess adequate power
be waterproof
negotiate mud as well as a Honda 450
ability to run with the pack leaders
He is familiar with the limited slip differential on the Grizzly vs Sportsman AWD
From a maintenance/durability standpoint will the Grizzly be a viable alternative with aftermarket tires?

My dad has a Grizzly and I have had a chance to put many hours on it. I would say the Grizzly is better but then again I dont care for the Polaris feel either. Ultimately its your friends decision and you should get him on both machines to see which he likes better. But my vote goes to the Grizzly. The Polaris people are going to say the SP is better and so on and so forth......I say let the rider decide
No offense meant but Polaris doesnt have the best reliability/maintenance record at least around where we are.

I'm gonna say this right off the bat, I'm not a brand basher. We are all different just like quads. The Grizz and Sp are both fine machines. The comfort on the Sp is hard to beat, but the Grizz is not bad either. On the durability, I like the changes that have been made to the Sp, but strongly feel that the Grizz is more durable. The only way you can keep your quad from having problems is leaving it at the house, and that ain't no fun. If its got tit's or tire's sooner or later your gonna have problems. Which ever quad that is chosen, learn about that machine and do all the maintenance you can do to keep it up to snuff. This doesn't make it bullet proof, but it puts the odds more in our favor. When you mess with Mother Nature she will win every time in the end...........
I like both machines.......
