Mother's is great for final clean up. The folks at the Eastwood Company have some quality roughes. Bargain wise, Harbor Freight also has some. Red cuts pretty good. Get yourself some practice....set up a padded "backstop", cause when you're first starting out, da parts are gonna go flyin'. Be careful.

I would also recommend a face mask and mouth/nose filter cover do dad. Cuz the polishing compuond will make a mess out of you real quick, and the little fibers from the buffing wheels get into your nose and mouth. Sears sell a decent polishing kit as well

I've got an extended shaft 8" grinder/buffer too. You can get big sticks of polishing rouge for cheap at your local truck stop where the semi's fuel up.
Red is very abrassive.
Green is medium and general use.
White is for finishing, and oh boy howdy does the chrome shine afterwards.
finish up with some Mothers to seal and protect and your tire rims and billet items will just glow
