OK guys I just puntured my 3rd front tire on my quad and I am pissed off at paying $60 each time to get a new tire. As you all know it doesn't work very well when you try to patch a sidewall punture. So I was thinking about the Holeshot-Front 22x7x10 XC on ITP Steel for my raptor. They have 6ply rating and I heard that the steel is stronger.
Would this be a good tire?

 

Do you ride a lot of rocky, technical terrain???

I have run XC's on all my machines for years. Hundreds of miles of hard a$$ desert riding (on each machine!) every year, WITHOUT A SINGLE PROBLEM of any kind. I do run fix-a-flat in the tires all the time (that takes care of the little things like cactus thorns), but I have never had a flat or a sidewall cut or anything, ever! There isn't any other tire that I would run!

One thing you DO NOT want on your wheels is WEIGHT. It is the biggest handicap you can give yourself. So, I would never consider steel wheels on a sport bike. Go with ITP Baja rims with reinforcement rings if you need more rim strength. I don't even run steel wheels on my utilities, which see a lot of technical terrain/rock crawling.

 

I have the Holeshot XC's on my Raptor and I have had zero problems. I run them on my factory wheels and they work awesome. They have some neat features that make them work really well. Aluminum is the way to go. I would go with at least some rims that have rolled beads if not the ones with reinforcing rings if you need that much strength.

 

The stock rims are pretty strong, and reasonably light. If you have trashed them, you must be riding some pretty serious terrain!

 

Hey thanks for all the help. My stock rims are pretty beat up and Ive only had my quad for 2 months.
So I ordered the 22-7-10's with the douglas .190 rims.
I hope this setup works where I ride.

 

I think you may find the Douglas are more fragile than stock! The stockers have a fairly strong rolled lip, where the Douglas doesn't. Be carefull out there!
