Oil Pump Block Off 400L
#1
I have got the motor torn apart at the moment and am just about to split the cases and begin cleaning. I am going to install the oil block off kit after the rebuild, but I have no idea what it looks like. Does the pump remain on the motor? Does the block off kit just plug couple of holes in the pump housing or is it a plate that mounts where the oil pump itself bolts to the motor. Anyhelp would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

The block off plate actually covers a hole where the oil pump housing is. It doenst cover the whole thing, at least the one I purchased which is the hot seat one. It only covers the hole into the motor so it looks like something is missing. And the oil pump itself is removed during this. When I installed mine the housing bolts had lock-tite, or however you spell it, on them. Just fair warning took me a couple hours and 3 stripped bolts, or screws.

I ran into the same trouble with the pump mounting screws as oghma. It would be a easier job with the motor out of the quad. Make sure you use a good screwdriver that is in good shape and is the right size for the screws.

Yeah, same here. The screws were not wanting to come out. I soaked them with WD a couple times, put the screw driver in there and mahhered it to be sure it was on the screw tight, them they came right out. The motor is out though so I am sure that mad it easier.
I was kinda suprised when i took the cover off that the oil pup was all rusty. It worked fine, it was just very rusty, I guess the cover was leaking water in or something.

I do have a picture of the hot seat performance block off plate if you would like to see what it looks like after install to maybe help judge which you would like to buy. Just let me know if you want it, its not the greatest but it will give you an idea.
