Default Ball Joint Removal.....need advice

Upong turning my DS, I hear a slight clank on the right side ball joint area. I think it's time to replace them. However I spoken to two other DS owners and both have mentioned to me they are an extreme pain in the rear to remove. One took his to a shop and had a hydraulic press push them out. Is there a tool anyone here uses to remove them they can suggest to make the operation a painless proceedure?

There is a tool for the job. I think it is a Motion Pro Tool. . .

Think I bought one. Let me go check the garage to see if it is in the original packaging. (Yes, my stockers were a Pain!)

When I did the powdercoating on my arms all I used is a socket that was slightly smaller than the ball joint and tap it right out. It will come out pretty easy. The pain was getting the green loctite to reinstall them. My buddy got some from a guy who works on roller coasters.

All Right! I'm back. (Bet you didn't even know I was gone )

Motion Pro # 08-0120.

I haven't used mine.

I'm such a knuckle-head. Was pulling them out of the spare bike yesterday to replace them and Jeff asks me for something to bang on them to get them out. I had the tool in my tool box the whole time. By the time we got to the second bike I think we were both pretty hungry.

I don't see a price on the package but, I think it was about $20. I think I got it through Rocky Mt. ATV.

Thanks guys, I am already pricing out a set of balljoints. Maybe paint the a-arms while I'm at it. I have some rust at the welds and after catching some of the highest air I have done on my DS recently on the track I think it would be a good time to go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Going to order the tool tomorrow.

Jmac your buddy has anymore of that green loctite. I never heard of green, just red or blue. Is green in between the two or more extreme as opposed to the red?

It is more extreme than both. I will see if I can find the tube I have and give you the part number. It is supposed to be the same stuff they use at the factory.
