Buddies Warrior running like crap....
#1
Hey Guys,
Last night a friend of mine came down and we were ridin around a little bit. His Warrior seemed to be running fine....ran for probably 1/2 hour or so, then we shut them off for a second. When he started it back up, it ran like crap....It would idle fine, but if you gave it any gas it would cut out, and spit and sputter....almost like what a quad would do if you tried riding with the choke on. We didn't have a lot of time to mess with it, so all we did last night was pull the air intake off to check and see if the carb slides were opening, and they were. I'm not incredibly smart, so I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what to look for tonight?
Could it be the main jet is clogged? It's just weird that it was running perfectly fine the instant we shut it off, and then 5 minutes later it was running like crap. We already checked the air filter, and it's nice and clean.
There is a wire that runs from underneath the motor, right through where the shift lever attaches, and then back up...it was really hot, but I didn't see that it was exposed or anything.....just seems like a weird place to route a wire....Just mentioning it incase it's not normal....probably is though.
Thanks for any ideas you can provide.

So all its doing is idling fine???? in that case you wouldn't have mid range or top end.....well the first thing that comes to mind is the jets....your needle controls your midrange and the main jet is the top range...you might want to yank the carb...clean it out and then hit everthing with some gunkout....but the way you explained it I really don't see anything that you did that would effect the needle and main jet...you might also check the compression...On my scrambler..I went riding and then all of a sudden I lost all my power and the thing kept bogging down...the reason~ I got a crack in my header pipe and I lost all of my compression...so check and make sure your still getting compression.........did he use the choke to start it up (the time when you found out it wasn't running right) if so..check the cable and make sure it retracted back in................as for the wire...beats me...I've never had a warrior so I'm not to familiar with one...
Good luck getten her running again

Thanks man....we are gonna start with the carb, and see what's up.....Very weird that it all of a sudden started doing it....He did not use the choke to start it except for the very first time of the evening.
I'll see if I can snag a compression tester from our local garage and check that too....also will inspect the header and make sure they are bolted down good and in good shape....good idea.

Dude! Stop! It is your parking Brake! Don't go ripping into the quad! Check to see if the parking brake is even a little engaged...It was on mine and it almost made me tear the carb apart. Check that before anything.
And it made it run the same exact way.

Yeah i got 100 on the parking brake also.. happened to my raptor.. drove me crazy for about 2 months.. lol it wasnt exactly the parking break because i thought of that.. it was one of those other things that goes wrong with the raptor " the rev limiter" stupid raptors always having issues.. they need to invent a bike that doesnt use gas that has tons and tons of hp doesnt use oil doesnt require maintinence and is just perfect.
