Default Ok so my one-way went bad....

My one way went bad the other day or should I say its been bad for a while because of all the metal shavings, chunks, etc. But it final completely let loose. So far its been a piece of cake job to do but now im looking at getting a one-way kit from ripperracing.com ($254 gaskets, new bolts, LA oneway and new gear) along with there reverse rev-limiter bypass($26). So has anyone dealt with them? Anyone bought their bypass?

PS... I forgot to add I called Yamaha and according to the guy that I talked to he was unaware that the One-way was a problem. I was the first person that called about it that he had talked too. Also he said all the problems that are posted in forums and such like this could be like one person posting over and over. And that he only knows of what yamahas techs tell him and according to them its not all that common. So according to yamaha we are all full of crap.
The funny thing is though I went to raptortranny.com to check out the instructions and I tore it all apart and my symptoms and parts all look identical to what is posted there. Heres the other kicker the dealer wanted 1 hour labor to test my quad to find the problem. Takes about maybe 5 seconds(turn the key on, hit the starter button) then and additional 2 hours for labor just to tear it apart(roughly $215)... LOL. I have about 35-45 minutes into tearing it apart right now and have maybe 30 minutes left to put it back together. If I had all the parts and wanted to just get it done in a hurry it might have an hour job. I also had the extended warranty which they said they didnt know if it was covered because they didnt know exactly if that was it so in order to even find out anything I had to spend $215 that might have been reimbursed if it was the oneway which it was but that was no guarantee because they didnt know if the warranty company covered it.

Conclusion: Extended Warranties are pretty much useless. And you dont really know for sure untill the dealer has already got you by the ***** with your agreement to pay the fee to start working on it.

So if you have a clue whatsoever tear it apart and fix it yourself.

hey i have been looking at getting a raptor and well there are a ton of them that have the l a one way on them. And i talked to a guy that was pretty familiar with the quad and has worked on pros quads and he said it was a factory problem that should be recalled but they won't. And it has to be a big problem if an aftermarket makes a replacement that doesn't add performance.

I've dealt with Ripperracing several times. He is also the same guy who put together Raptortranny.com. You will get what you pay for and will be pleased, go for it.

PS, the yamaha tech you talked with is full of crap and the Y.E.S. is a waste of money.

The guy at our dealer said we were the first ones to have this problem, and most likely the only ones....Then he had to look up which oil filter was for the raptor.

I installed another stock one, before finding the l&a and just yesterday installed the l&a, but the one for 195. Now it starts like a new quad, and never sounded so great when it cranked!
