Default WOLERINE plug fouling???

i have an 01 wolverine and the plug fouls almost instantly when you give it gas. it will idle fine but as soon as you give it gas it cuts out blows out large puffs of black smoke and sounds like a v-8 running on 1 cylinder. my battery is also junk, would that be the problem? ive checked the timing float level, and i think all my jets and needle are set fine. it runs like this all the time except at idle. any and all help would be appreciated.

p.s. it has a web mid range cam white bros e-series pipe and uni filter.
i also rejeted for all these 2 years ago.

Default WOLERINE plug fouling???

Just to be sure, check the compression, when my motor was due for a rebuild, I couldn't get the jetting right, it always ran the plug black, and shot soot out of the tail pipe. after the rebuild, it ran great, was easy to rejet, and gave me no more problems. I know 3 years or so seems like a short time, but if you have put a lot of hard miles on it, like mine, it could be time.

Default WOLERINE plug fouling???

really the only time i have rode it was during deer season (2 weeks) and they were not hard miles. i asked ricky stator about it and they seem to think it might be in the pulser would that have killed my battery? how hard is it to change the pulser and how do i check to see if it is?

is this a forum where a guy can get some help or am i wasting my time with useless information. the air filter was the first thing i checked. the motor does not need a rebuild or i would have noticed it the last time i rode it. i am wondering what happens to the motor when a pulsar goes bad???

We were all working with the limited info you supplied, sorry if we don't have the power to instantly see your exact problem, this forum has lots to offer, but you will find an attitude like that will get you nothing but dumped on or ignored. You asked for help, we tried, then you blast us with attitude. YES, the pulsar coil on your stator is ONE place to look, it could also be a bad coil, bad plug wire, so what's next, blasting Ricky Stator for not nailing it down???? The people here are more than willing to help, but you need to help us by giving us ALL your info, so we can make a more exact diagnosis. Sorry, but I just don't appreciate someone calling me an idiot when I am just trying to help.

Default WOLERINE plug fouling???

i appologize. i was just getting frusterated with it.i do know that it has plenty of compression because it tries to pull the rope out of my hands when pull starting. i tried a new plug and it ran fine about a minute.tried new gas to no avail. air filter is clean and exhaust is pipe is clear. the plug is fine.

Does anyone have trouble with their wolverine running rough after ridding in snow?

Well, lets start from the top, if snow riding is causing problems, you either have a crack in a plug wire, or are sucking snow into the air box or melted snow into the carb. Have you pulled the carb and checked float level,or gave it a good cleaning? If you only ride it once in a while, a dirty carb is very likely, even the tiniest piece of dirt in a jet or passage can cause major problems. To properly test a pulser (ignition) coil on your stator, you will either need a good manual, or take it to a shop, those type of problems can be hard to nail down. I did have problems with the gap between the stator and the pulse coil, but it just caused it to run bad when revved up, if yours went bad, it is possible you don't have enough juice to properly fire the plug, that's why a new one worked for a little, then fouled out. A Clymer manual could walk you through a lot of trouble shooting, if you don't feel confident checking the electrical system, take it to a shop to verify before sending a stator out. If you have access to another Wolverine or Warrior, you might try swapping plug in parts like coils and CDIs to see if you can isolate the problem.
