IS independent suspension better than a straight axle? i am thinking about buying a new kodiak and i wanted to know if the straight axle is better? is the back end also always locked in like the front differental lock?

yeah you don't have to worry about any cv boots, but what is better for mud and work?

It depends on what kind of riding you oplan on doing. I'm sold on IRS. I have no plans to ever go back to a swing arm. I like to ride rougher technical trails where it's a big advantage to keep most of your tires on the ground. I put about 2500 miles on each year and the IRS definatly has the smooth ride advantage.

I think it would be dumb to buy a utility quad without irs.
