Default oil pump

i think my oil pump may have gone ka-poot...is there anything i can do or check to see if it has actually gone...i have takein it off..looks fine to me.....there was a fair amount of little piece of metal everywhere, but i dont think that would be the problem for making it stop..reason i think its stopped is becuase there is no oil coming to the head again...well there is but it is a feeble amount..is it possible my oil is to thick...i put some 20w50 into it, about 1.4 to 1/2 quart becuase it was so hot here this past week...

Metal inside the oil pump means that your oil filter is stopped up. The filter is located oon the end of the crankshaft on the clutch side. Take the screws out and clean it out. Put a new gasket back on when you do this or you will loose oil pressure.

I see that you have ran across this before. I must of missed the first go around. You don't have any sealant between the rocker cover and head blocking the oiling hole do you?

Ok, this is what i have done so far.....i removed the right hand crankcase cover...took out the 3 bolts on the centrifugal clutch, then i took off 3 things secured by the bolts....

First was this thing sorta like a cup i guess, it has sludge in the bottom of it, i cleaned that out

Then this big "O" type circle thing, it had blocks stilling out every like cm or so and it mounted into the first piece i took off persay...

Then, lastly this big disc that seemed to cover the clutch up quite a bit.....

It that whole assembly thing the filter or am i missing something...because i dont see how that could filter the oil out...

and, no think is nothing such as sealant or anything for that matter blocking the oilling hole

Thanks again for the help KNOWSALOT

Yes, that assembly you described is the "oil filter".

The "O" with the tabs and the large washer are actually functional pieces of the clutch rather than the oil filter, but they are supposed to come off when you remove the filter cover.

The filter works much like your small 4 stroke motorcycles. If you look good where the "cup" portion of the filter cover sits, there is a oiling hole in the crankshaft. I don't know how to explain the physics of how it operates here, but all trash in the oil collects into that cover. I have taken some apart that were completely full of sludge to the point that no oil could pass through it, causing oil pressure to build so much that it would continuously blow out the crankcase vent hose regardless of engine RPM.

Whether yours needed it or not, you sure didn't waste your time by cleaning it.
