handle bar wiggle

Default handle bar wiggle

i was riding my 01 sportsman 400 today on blacktop and slowing down to about 25-30 mph i could feel the handle bars wiggle a little, if i let go of the handle bars they wiggled enough that i had to grab them, i was in 2wd mode. its never done this before(538 miles) any ideas? thanks in advance...mike

check your ball joints and tie rod ends. Also might just be a tire under or over inflated

If nothing has any play in it like your tie rods or ball joints it is out of alignment I would say.

Have you put slime or anything like that in the tires? That could also cause a vibration.

Hey mike, Absolutly believe in slime. Especially if you ride in rocky terrain. I used to get flats all the time. Since using slime(and an ocasional can of fix-a-flat when needed) I have not been stuck in gods country with a flat. Have you looked at the steering stem bushing? If you do replace it, use the HPD brand and not stock. HPD is aluminum and stock it plastic. Also, the two rivets that hold it in are a pain to get out.
