Yes, the exhaust if for a 300ex...heres the link to the same item i bought...and if you have AIM, ill show you the picture of the two exhausts, but im almost positive that old header pipe is off a 400ex, the slip is positiviely a 400ex slip however...my AIM screen name is bucks85delorean..

That exhaust is for a 300EX.

Cobra exhaust systems do not loop around the front down tube of the frame like other brands. Is that what you are asking?

As far as the header not wanting to go into the engine, the flange portion of the head pipe does suppose to hang out more than the stock one does. Be sure the copper gasket isn't binding at the engine keeping the header from butting up.

From what I see, you shouldn't be having a serious problem getting that exhaust to fit your engine at all. There isn't anything else I know to tell you without being there in person.
