Default Finally got DS back together

Took a bit longer than planned but it ran this weekend. J

703 PAMI bottom-end
Craycraft ported head (stock valves)
Custom ground Ron Wood Cams, they made my old .450 RWR cams look dinky.
TM 45 on Alky : I was in a hurry so I threw my last year set up on woth one size larger jet. 9/64th. Lectron 50 coming once i find an intake to chop up.
MR Horsepower Big Ugly drag pipe LOUD and repeatedly kicked as I was stabbing for the brakes.
MSD ignition . No idea what my settings are just stuck it on and ran. Was a bit pressed for time

When you have a frame powder coated seperately from your main frame, make sure that you grind the coat off at the joins or you will get an 45 minute experience of swearing while you fix your ground situation. (hmm maybe it was an hour, I am not to swift at 4 AM)

BIke fired without gas priming, just had to choke it. Did break in heatings. Then realized I hadn't bled the brakes. Kick number one to Big Ugly exhaust. Luckily I missed the garage, Harley, trailer, and tree.

After I bled the brakes. it was off to the track (SpringValley Hanoverton, Ohio) for their inaugural drag race.
First practice run I realized That I had way way too steep of gearing in it. My Stage 2 needed a 2 tooth drop on the front sproclet to get the best performance on a 300 ft track. With the new motor that left me launching in third and still having slight traction issues on launch.
Ended up running the almiost exact time that I ran last year after tuning and tweaking all season.

It was the first race at the track so classes were small, but it worked out well as it let the owner work out some bugs and get the rules established.

So I won got second in my 8 bike class, lost to a Zilla with a GSR 750 motor in it.

My deep thanks go out to:
Gary at TVI for the MSD igntion and advice to use the shift light and ignore the tach
Gottfried at PAMI for the top notch work on the cylinder and crank rod work that made the factory work look sloppy.
Stacy Kinney (I have never seen it written so sorry bout the spelling) For speaking to me and Frank repeatedly and telling us what worked for you.
Frank at Cyclemotion for putting it together and telling me to shut up and listen to people who know what they are doing instead of guessing or arguing
Cory and Lance at Pigpen Powdercoating for the beatiful job they did on the bike. (and for letting me put my bike together in their shop).

well, ramble off

lyrch,

If that is the race Im thinking of, did you meet someone named Steve Bartnicki? He had a lowered and stretched raptor with some flames on it. He happended to be in Ohio visiting some relatives, so he went to the race. Small world!! If he mentioned a yellow and purple DS, thats me.

It is located about 45 minutes to an hour south of Youngstown Ohio. About 1 -1.25 hour west of Pittsburgh PA.
Look up Hanoverton ohio and summitville ohio .it is about in the middle

They have held moto cross and hare scrambles there for about 15 years. We talked the owner into putting a 300 foot dirt drag track in. We helped set it up, put about 45-50 tons of sand in roto-tilled that into the dirt about 8 inches deep. Nice hooking track when you keep enough moisture on it.

He is running the next race on August the 7th sign ups starting at 3 drags starting at 5

Hey,, it was good meeting ya Lyrch. You had the DS running pretty good sat night.
I had the Rappy with the flames on it. Even though you pulled around me on that last race in the last 30 ft it was good to know my pump gas Raptor was hanging with an Alky burning machine.
I dont know if you were getting tickets printed after each run but I got the ticket from our last run.
I ran a 5.503 and you ran a 5.490. Congrats, that was a REALLY close race.
I dont know about you, but I thought the track was a bit too packed down. I wish it was just a bit looser. I just wasnt gettint the bite off the line I think we should have been getting. Too much wheel spin. I probably should have changed my tires to a set with a more aggressive tread. Im sure it hurt our times cuz Ive pulled better times on a tackier track before.
You know the zilla running the 750 was running studs in his tires, thats why he was launching off the line so well.
I think if he pulled them studs out we both could have beat him. lol
Again, nice meeting ya, and congrats.

03 Raptor
Craycraft Porting
Stage 2 cam
Alba pipe
11.5:1 comp, Stock bore and stroke.
Stock Carbs pumping 110 pump gas.

Eric, the track owner was worried about getting too much water on the track after all the rain during the day. The track is very bitey when we can get it nice and wet then just drag it but not roll it. It will get better as he has more experience prepping it and taking care of it, right now we are going by guesses and ideas for getting a good repeatable surface.

Your Rappy was doing pretty good, was fun running a tight race Was the only time that night that I had to look to see the win light, as I wasn't sure who had gotten it.

Hope to pick up a bit once I get the gearing set better and get my rev limiter up a bit, was hitting hitting it every run. Very happy with the way it ran for just getting it finished just before we left to go to the track though
