best way to install axel bearings??

i would like to know the best way to insert axel bearing i have a buddy who just put them on his banshee and he put a pipe around them and tapped them in. he told me thats what i should do but it doesnt seem like thats a healthy way to do it i say put them in a press. the ones on my lt250r just fryed and was just wondering what the best way is

I dont know if the lt has a removable bearing carrier. If it does the common trick to install bearings is to throw the bearings in the freezer for a few hours. 3 hours min. Then heat up the carrier in the over at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
This will cause the carrier's metal to expand and the bearings to contract. When the carrier is nice and hot pull the bearing out of the freezer and drop them in. In most cases they drop right in. Sometimes you will need to tap them in with a rubber mallet but it will be easy. When the parts cool/warm up to room tempthey will fit really tight.
