what do people think about having a back-up shock/hydraulic bumpstop on a quad which only comes into use with 4 inches to bottom out. i believe that it will help eliminate bottoming out and will allow people to 'loosen' their spring which i think will allow the rear suspension to 'walk' over the whoop-de-doos. any comments

INteresting idea. Would the added shock be able to be light and compact enough not to add too much weight to a system which can normally handle the entire task? .....that's if people take the time to set up their machines.

it weighs about 1-2kg (2-4 pounds), and is about 22cm ( 8 1/2 inches) in length and also 1 to1 1/2 inches in diameter. i have measured it up and i could put one on my friends warrior. i could get a spring made for it and get my engineer freind to make it coilover friendly(with a triple rate spring , ofcourse). i know i would take the time to do it, if it meant that i could go quicker through the ruff and give me extra comfort. all in all with brackets and stuff, would add about 3 kg (6 pounds) maxxxxx.

p.s i have patented this idea so dont go stealing it, all you theives.

also, what if the original shock leaked gas/oil, you would be able to limp in without compromising all of your speed. i like it. also you wouldnt have to worry about bottoming out on a jump unlike the other competitiors which will DEcrease your laptime.

thanx

anyone willing to buy this idea, bids starting at US$100 jk.
p.s. anyone who missed it, the idea is PATENTED!!!!

also just wondering what tubing the predator is made out of (mild steele, RACETEC, chromoly etc) what is the swing arm made out of, is it very beefy, i mean if i made a replica out of plate chromoly (with a plate for my bumpstop to hit) how much weight could i shave off it to make up for the bumpstop?
