Is this a good atv for a youth? Any problems? Would you get a different kind?

 

For how old of a kid?

 

He is 9 and weighs @ 65- 70 lbs.

 

We put our youngest son on a Honda TRX 90 when he was five, and now that he is eight, we just moved him up to a Grizzly 125 this week. The Grizzly 125 seems to be a good little mini ATV, and is actually a Breeze 125 with Grizzly plastic on it. The Breeze has been around forever, and has a proven track record.

The Grizzly 80 is a Badger 80 with Grizzly plastic on it, and in my opinion the Badger did not have as good of a reputation as the Breeze did. The solid front axle/swingarm front suspension is a poor design if you ask me. On the other hand, the Grizzly 80 does have electric start, which is nice. Our TRX 90 had a pull start, and our son never did get big enough to start his own ATV in the three years he rode it. I got kind of tired of starting my kids ATV all the time.

 

Outerlimit, How is the Grizz 125? I thought about one of them too. Whats the specs as far as clutch, auto ect> 4 strofe or 2? Chain or shaft? Any other info would be appreciated.

 

It is an air cooled four stroke, with an auto belt drive transmission that has forward and reverse, and it has chain drive. Yamaha seems to make the best belt drive transmissions in the business with their full sized ATVs, so hopefully the Grizzly 125s transmission is just as good. It seems to be a good ATV so far, and just the right size for my kid to grow into.

 

My son is 5 years old ...I want to get him a good ATV for him to grow into ...The Grizz 80 seems to fit him physically but I'm worried about the changing of gears ...the 80 grizz is a 3 speed ....go figure.....
